A healthy workforce is a happy and productive workforce.
Employee Health and Safety is very important. Back problems are the most common form of ill health at work – prevention and management is the key. In the UK more workdays are lost through back pain than anything else as 80% of us will experience back pain at some time in our lives. More and more people are spending a considerable proportion of their working day at their computers, or hunched over desks. Posture-related lower back pain causes problems for the employee and employer, especially when considering the cost to both the employee who is unable to work and therefore earn, and the employer from work days lost through repetitive strain injury and back pain. Providing the correct chair, height of the computer etc all helps these problems, but does not address and educate the individual about the root cause of poor posture. This needs to be addressed or it will still be there causing a problem, even after money has been spent on specialist equipment.
Pilates is ideally suited to both the desk bound workers and to those workers who spend hours standing. Pilates helps to realign the body, thereby reducing posture-related backache and tension in the shoulders causing headaches.
Employers will get:· a reputation for good health and safety management; · a competitive edge in the recruitment and retention of staff, being recognized as an organization that looks after employees’ welfare; · an opportunity to work with employees to manage the risk and impact of back pain.
Employees can:· Find out how to avoid the impact of back pain · Enjoy Pilates and continue to use this in all aspects of their life · Feel they are valued and appreciated
I offer workshops or lecture-based seminars to both employers and employees (either individually or as a group) which look at posture, the importance of core stabilization and de-stressing, opening up the shoulder region and releasing the tension.
I can also do regular Pilates sessions.
All you need to do is provide the room. |
